How many ways can a story be told?

I’m a true crime junkie, and am particularly fond of long-form, true crime reporting. I first became aware of the story of Dee Dee and Gypsy Rose Blanchard about a year ago, after hearing journalist Michelle Dean discuss her 8,600-word article for Buzzfeed News, “Dee Dee Wanted Her Daughter To Be Sick, Gypsy Wanted Her Mom Murdered,” on the Longform Podcast.

Aug 2 'Caught’ explores America’s juvenile justice system

If you know me, you know that I love a good podcast. I’ve recently discovered a new one, which I’d like to share with you.

It’s called “Caught,” and it is produced by WNYC in New York City. Hosted by Kai Wright, the nine-episode series looks at a number of young offenders caught up in America’s juvenile justice system. And it’s actually pretty compelling.

Based in Las Cruces, New Mexico, Damien Willis is a newspaper reporter and communications professional. He generally writes about the ways we pass our time in the 21st century.
